ATAP as of Week 8

    This week I continued planning out my site and began to return to previous work to update it to be final project material. I found this task to be somewhat difficult, as diving a layer deeper on some of my critical analysis pieces becomes very complex, and I had a little bit of trouble coming up with more things to say about a couple of the paintings. I think in the grand scheme of things, to me this is alright. I think that I will end up revisiting some of my pieces a couple more times to polish them up and make sure that they are ready before the final week, but that for now everything is in order and I am feeling good.

    Hi Mike! I know it can sometimes feel tough to add on to a critical analysis piece. I find revisiting some of the terms on the Critical Analysis page can inspire additional writing about another component of the work of art that hasn't been addressed yet. There are some good painting-specific terms you can look at as well as more general ones that apply to all sorts of works of art (tone/mood and theme are my favorites!). Try this and let me know if you want any additional suggestions or support as you work!

    Hey Mike! I think you're doing great with the project so far. I know it can be hard to come up with different ideas to include into your pieces, I also have found myself struggling to come up with different concepts and ideas. It's a very creative project that allows many different directions of work. I'm happy that you're feeling good about the project and I'm sure its probably done by now.

Modernism in a Physical Display

Guggenheim Museum by Frank Lloyd Wright, 1959; Source: Trendir     The above work, the Guggenheim Museum, effectively displays the values of Modernism while appealing to a wider audience, all through design and aesthetic characteristics, which brings about ideas of today's fluid working environment. The Guggenheim's tiered, circular upper portion serves two purposes. The first provides a spiraling interior used to display artwork in a way which allows the audience to flow through the work in a sequence. The second is to emphasize the freedom within Modernism. The building rejects the square-cornered boundaries of the surrounding city, instead focusing on dynamic curves which invite viewers to explore freedom of expression. The museum houses works of art, while it's own exterior is a Modernist work, creating a feeling of interest and artisanship within onlookers.
